Do you draw negative conclusions before you even start praying for something that is beyond your capacity? It's a struggle.

For several years, I faced this negative attitude in my prayer-life. I tried to overcome it, but couldn't. Finally, I asked Jesus to help me. He taught me the secret of effective prayer i.e. to place our complete trust in God to receive a desirable answer to our prayers.

I'm reminded of a story I heard many years ago: Once, all the Christians in a village decided to pray for rain. On the day of prayer all of them gathered, but only one boy came with an umbrella.

What is this little story trying to teach us as believers? Only the little boy believed that it would rain.

Jesus said, "...Whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11:24).
