The friend in crisis becomes desperate. He goes to another friend and bangs on his door.

The sleeping friend gets up, not because he wants to, but because the petitioning friend persists in his banging on the door.

God loves our persistent calling upon him. Read Abraham’s persistent prayer for Sodom (Genesis 18:23-32). Read the Syro-Phoenician woman’s plea for her demon-possessed daughter (Matthew 15:21-28). Read of Jacob’s persistent plea to God to bless him (Genesis 32:24-29).

Because of their persistence, Abraham saved his nephew Lot from Sodom’s judgment, the woman received a healed daughter, and Jacob got a new name and new character.

God often checks your desires before giving you blessings.

George Mueller’s faith and persistence with God enabled him to take care of 10,000 orphans, establish six orphanages and 117 schools. He supported Hudson Taylor, missionary to China with $10,000. a year.

We will not accomplish much if we do not practice persistency in prayer.
